I Bumped into My Former Girlfriend While Looking for Double Strollers
While I was looking for a new set of double strollers, I bumped into my ex-girlfriend Danah and I was really quite pleased to see her. I really miss her because even after we broke up, we remained pretty good friends. And after a couple of years of not seeing her, I was really quite surprised to see her at the mall. It turns out she was also looking for a double stroller because she had just had a second kid.
I am quite amazed at this coincidence because I was also looking for a double stroller because me and my wife Karen, whom I love so much, just recently welcomed our second child ourselves. I told Danah to give me her number so we can meet up for coffee later on and catch up on a lot of stuff.
It turns out that she recently switched jobs which took her to our city! I cannot wait for her to see my kids.
What’s Your Parenting Style-The Four Main Styles
Parenting styles can have such a large impact on the social development of their children. This is why it is so important for parents to really see what type of practices they are teaching to their children, to make sure they are leading them in the right direction. According to research there are four main categories that will describe the different parenting styles.
- Authoritarian parents are punitive, rigid and have really strict standards for their children, and any expressions of disagreement are unacceptable. These parents usually have children that are not very sociable, not very nice and are withdrawn from others.
- Permissive parents are very relaxed, not very demanding, and every now and then tell their children what to do. Children of these parents are very moody, dependent and immature.
- Authoritative parents set limits and goals for their children, while firm they use reasoning and encourage independence in their children. When children are raised by parents like this they are reliable, independent and have good social skills.
- Un-involved parents are emotionally detached from their children and only see their role as parent as providing them with food, clothing and shelter. These children will only end up feeling indifferent and will also show rejecting behavior.
